Singapore, 18 March 2005 - Cheers, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTUC FairPrice, is sponsoring 75,000 bags for the goodie bags at this year's The New Paper (TNP) Big Walk.
Mdm Cynthia Phua, General Manager of Cheers Holdings (2004) Pte Ltd said, "We are pleased to participate in The New Paper Big Walk for the first time this year. As an up and coming convenience store chain and one that is trendy, energetic and dynamic, we have always been supportive of activities involving the youths. TNP Big Walk presents a very good opportunity for us to be associated with a major national event that is widely participated by people from all walks of life, in particular, the younger population."
Amateur walkers can sign up for TNP Big Walk at over 40 Cheers stores islandwide (list of Cheers convenience stores in the Annex). Majority of Cheers convenience stores operate 24 x 7 and their accessible locations within housing estates, at SMRT stations and in office buildings and shopping malls provide would-be participants an easy avenue for registration. Motorists who are always on the go can also sign up at FairPrice Xpress and Cheers by FairPrice stores conveniently located in the following petrol stations:

- Esso Bedok South Service Station with FairPrice Xpress
- Mobil MacPherson Service Station with FairPrice Xpress

Launched in 2000, Cheers is a homegrown convenience store chain that caters mainly to the needs of a younger shopper profile and people on the go. To date, there are 44 Cheers convenience stores and 3 Cheers by FairPrice at petrol stations. Majority of the stores operate round-the-clock. Cheers by FairPrice is a new service station retailing concept that was jointly launched by NTUC FairPrice and ExxonMobil Asia Pacific.
